Love it or hate it? Regardless of how you feel as a clinician, interacting with and utilizing social media is one of the new facts of life. Adolescents, who are forming their identities, exploring boundaries and separating from parents are impacted by and interacting with social media in ways never before imagined. This informative session will discuss adolescent developmental tasks, evidence based research on the numerous and varied impact of social media on many aspects of adolescents' evolving sexuality.
Trauma-Informed Primary Care: Avoiding Re-Traumatization

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration defines trauma as "an event, series of events, or set of circumstances that is experienced by an individual as physically or emotionally harmful or threatening and that has lasting adverse effects." Acknowledging the high prevalence of traumatic exposure and its dramatically underestimated impact on health and well-being, women's health nurse practitioners must begin to recognize the value of adopting Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) principles into their practice.
