This session is an introduction to the need for forensic nursing specialty and patient-centered philosophy of trauma informed care in WHNP practices. The presentation will also cover the recognition of hormonal changes to the genitalia across the life span, and provide an enhancement of clinical assessment skills through the recognition of conditions and diseases that mimic intentional injury. Finally, the presentation completes the case studies with application of therapeutic diagnosis and pharmacological treatments by the advanced practice nurse caring for menstruating children (<18 years
of age) and adult (>18 years of age) females across the lifespan.
